Set up a 'fingerprint access' system on your iPhone

Want to impress your friends with how cool your iPhone or iPod touch is? Phone Security - Theft Protection places adds a fingerprint access system to your Apple device.

I'll point out right now that Phone Security - Theft Protection is a joke app and it doesn't really secure your iPhone - it just gives the appearance of doing so.

The idea of Phone Security - Theft Protection is that you put your device on standby then when someone turns it on to use it, a fingerprint scanner appears on screen. The person then holds down their finger on the screen and Phone Security - Theft Protection 'scans' it, before producing an 'Access denied' warning and sounding an alarm. It works in much the same way as Burglar Alarm for iPhone.

One big problem with Phone Security - Theft Protection is that it's not immediately obvious how the app is to be used. It's only when you click 'More' and go to the 'How to' screen that you find out how to set up the joke. It's here you learn that if you click the 'Place your finger on the scanner' graphic before doing the scan you can trigger the override. Do this and you get an 'Access Granted' screen on Phone Security - Theft Protection, with a voice recording that says 'Welcome, Master' in a robotic voice.

If you've set it up right, then Phone Security - Theft Protection can be a fun prank to play on your friends, but it's not a foolproof one. Crucially, they can just hit the Home button to quit out of the app and use your iPhone!
